”Electoral Reform should not come out of the agandalle, nor be based on austerity,’ says Kenia López

''Electoral Reform should not come out of the agandalle, nor be based on austerity,' says Kenia López

For this, “the certainty that organized crime does not get involved in the elections, does not define candidates, does not bet on campaigns, does not finance campaigns, is needed, because if not, then who is going to be the boss of those politicians is not going to be the people of Mexico, it is going to be the one who paid for their campaigns or who was financing their positions and their proposals,” he said.

Regarding the INE budget “we cannot with one speech say that we are in favor of democracy and with another speech cut off or try to cut off the people who are absolutely qualified in this institution so that the vote of Mexicans counts,” he explained.

In the interview he insisted that the INE is welcome to the Chamber of Deputies when the initiative is formalized, which, according to Morena, will occur between the first and second week of February.

There must be a broad discussion with the participation of everyone, and taking into account not only Morena’s allies but everyone, he explained.

“As far as is feasible, ethically, the reform must seek agreement, not subjugation, not rudeness, not agandalle, but agreement. That agreement between all political forces to build the rules of the game for each and every Mexican,” he mentioned.
