The special commission of the Senate in charge of the modification of the laws 15-19, Organic of Electoral Regime; and 33-18, of Political Parties, Groups and Movements does not guarantee rendering a report before this July 26, when the present legislature closes.
The information is contained in the comment of the president of the commission, senator Ricardo de los Santos, who told elCaribe that, although progress is being made in the work of the initiatives and the purpose is to conclude before closing this legislature, the reality is that For the commissioners, agreeing on a single article could take “several days of work”, so they cannot predict when they will conclude with the study of the pieces.
Provincial senator Sánchez Ramírez for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) said that the commission has already agreed on 66 articles of the 82 contained in Law 33-18, and that they go through article 146 of Law 15-19, the which consists of 306 items.
De los Santos announced that the delegation works first with one piece and then the other. “We are leaving the points of dissent, some articles that have dissent, and we are waiting for the opinions of the parties to conclude the Political Parties Law and the Electoral Regime Law, we are already at more than 50%,” said the congressman.
