Electoral law will be enriched in three work tables until December 15

The second vice president of the National Assembly, América Pérez, confirmed from the state of Aragua that the reform of the electoral law that the Venezuelan parliament is promoting, together with political parties and other sectors of the country, will be addressed in three working groups until the 15th. December of this year.

The first of these tables will be the legislative table, which will discuss, together with the political parties, deputies of parliament and qualified people, matters relating to electoral laws.

The second table will be the constitutional table, which has, among other tasks, the review of article 130 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which establishes the duty to honor the country and its symbols, as well as protect its values ​​and principles.

Finally, the technical-political table will be in charge of reviewing the internal functioning of the political parties, their structure, compliance with their duties and internal election processes, as well as ensuring that they truly practice democracy.

Representative Pérez was emphatic in pointing out that this reform of the electoral law must prohibit any citizen who has requested foreign aggression against the country from losing the right to participate in popular elections.

He also urged that citizens who have committed this crime be prosecuted by the relevant bodies and that justice be done.

He thanked the participation of all sectors of the country in this process of national dialogue to discuss the reform of the electoral law, including the majority of opposition parties, which are providing their contributions to this discussion.

He announced that there are two key dates for the next steps that this dialogue process will take, which must culminate to be presented by the president of parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, on December 15. The other date is January 10, “when we swear in President Nicolás Maduro and when democracy triumphs,” he said.
