Electoral Justice warns about possible change in polling place

Most Regional Electoral Courts (TRE’s) are warning about changes made to polling places and reinforcing the need for voters to check the location of their polling station before leaving home, even if they have always voted in the same place.Electoral Justice warns about possible change in polling place

In the capital of São Paulo, for example, the largest voting center in the city, the Centro Universitário Anhanguera, which served 25,000 people, was closed. These voters were redistributed to three other polling places.

The changes occur in all regions, from north to south of Brazil. In Pernambuco, for example, 92 polling places were changed, while in Santa Catarina, 51 municipalities had polling stations moved to addresses different from those used in previous elections.

Survey of Brazil Agency found alerts of changes in at least 17 states and the Federal District, but the most likely, according to the Electoral Court, is that there are adjustments in the distribution of voters in all units of the Federation.

The changes occur due to adjustments in the number of voters and, sometimes, due to structural impediments, such as renovations or closing of establishments and buildings.

advance consultation

To consult the polling place in advance, the voter has several options. The verification can be done on the TSE portal, in the “Voters and Elections” tab, at the top of the page. Then, click on the option “Polling place / polling areas.

To search, just fill in three pieces of information:

– name, voter registration number or CPF;

– birth date;

– mother’s name.

Once this is done, the page will indicate the result with the number of the electoral zone, the section and the address of the polling place.

e-Title

Another option is the e-Título application, which works as a digital ticket for voting. Through the tool, which is available in versions for Android and iOS, just do the Login with your information and then go to “Where to vote”. A new screen will open, with the data about the section, zone and address.

In most places, the application also offers a georeferencing service, indicating the location of the polling station on a map.

It is worth remembering that the application cannot be downloaded on election day, and must be installed and configured at least until the Saturday prior to the lawsuit.

chatbot

This year, TSE created, in partnership with WhatsApp, a virtual assistant through which voters can ask where their polling place is. Just send a “hi” to the number +55 61 996371078 on WhatsApp or click on link https://wa.me/556196371078 and save the contact to receive the contents of the bot.

The polling location must be consulted as follows: in the main menu, simply click on “Access the Chatbot” and then “see topics”. Then, within “Voter Services”, simply choose the option “Voting location”. From there, the query can be made by full name, voter registration or CPF.

“When entering any of these data, along with the date of birth and the mother’s full name, the application will present the result, with information about the electoral domicile – zone, section, place, address and municipality – and with a map that indicates, precisely, the place where the voter and the voter must appear to vote on the day october 2first round of the 2022 Elections”, explains the TSE.
