The Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) plans to reject the challenges formulated by lawyers who were eliminated in the first stage of the selection process of candidates to participate in the election of judges, magistrates and ministers, which will be held out next June.

Judge Felipe de la Mata proposed to the upper court to dismiss most of the challenges, especially 15 cases of disagreement with the decision of the Evaluation Committee of the Legislative Power.

In the project, which will be analyzed next week in the upper room of the TEPJF, it is highlighted that in the case of seven of them, there were a change in legal situation that renders the controversy moot.

That is to say, although they were excluded from the list released by that committee on December 7, they were included in the complementary list presented on December 17, so the complainants will be able to continue in the next stage of evaluation.

In other cases, Judge de la Mata proposes dismissing the claims for having been filed out of time or for lacking a handwritten or electronic signature.

The draft resolutions were made public at the proposal of Judge Reyes Rodríguez, who specifically requested those referring to “the list of candidates who meet the eligibility requirements for the extraordinary electoral process of 2025.

Likewise, it requested the list of eligible applicants who will be able to continue with the suitability evaluation stage for the extraordinary electoral process of 2025.
