After learning that the valid signatures had been reached to enable the referendum against 135 articles of the LUC, the Electoral Court also announced that the ballot for No to the reform would be light blue, and the Yes ballot pink.
As a result, the Commission that promotes the referendum challenged the decision on the colors of the ballot, on the understanding that the light blue represents all Uruguayans and should not be used for either of the two options.
However, the Electoral Court did not accept the claim, so the original colors are maintained. In other words, a “Yes” ballot to repeal 135 articles of the LUC will be pink; and the other page for the “No” to the repeal, whose color will be light blue.
Votes
The referendum, called for Sunday March 27, 2022, will be mandatory.
There will be four types of votes:
I vote “Yes” to the appeal (against the LUC), which computes to repeal 135 challenged articles.
Vote for “No” (in favor of the LUC), they are accounted for the maintenance of the Law without modifications.
Blank vote (without any ballot sheet inside the envelope). It is added to the vote for “No and it is also computed for the maintenance of the Law. Since it is considered a valid vote.
Void or annulled vote (with the two contradictory voting sheets, breaks or elements that lead to the annulment of the suffrage), it is not counted and its effect is neutral.
