The official results of the national elections of last Sunday, March 26 in Cuba, show the election of the 470 candidates proposed as deputies to the highest body of State power with more than 50% of valid votes cast by the voters, according to the electoral roll. .
Alina Balseiro, president of the CEN, explained at a press conference that this last figure was reached after the voter lists were made compatible. This made it possible to update the register, which initially amounted to 8,120,072 voters.
In addition, it reported that 5,565,640 of the deposited ballots were valid, 90.28% of the total.
Of the total valid votes cast, 72.10% were for all, and 27.90% were selective votes.
All the deputies were elected with more than 61% of the valid votes cast, by the free, equal, direct and secret vote of the voters. The process was developed in a favorable electoral environment, “with transparency, honesty and adherence to the Electoral Law,” said Balseiro.
This process will culminate on April 19 with the constitution of the National Assembly of People’s Power in its X Legislature.
