Elections 2026: ONPE will hold the draw this Thursday the 12th to define the location of parties on the voting card

The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) will carry out this Thursday, February 12 at 10 in the morning the draw that will determine the position of the political parties in the voting card with a view to General Elections 2026.

The draw will be public and will be attended by the legal representatives of the 30 political organizations that were registered with the National Election Jury (JNE) on December 23.

Likewise, a notary public will be part of the event to validate the draw carried out by the electoral body at its institutional headquarters. Delegates from each electoral body will also be present in order to guarantee the transparency of the process.

During this day, the place that the parties will occupy will be defined for the different positions for which they apply, such as Presidency and vice presidency, Senate, Chamber of Deputies and Andean Parliament.

The draw

Two draws are scheduled to be held on Thursday the 12th. The first will determine the order in which the political parties will appear on the ballot for the April 12 elections. The second, if necessary, will establish the position of the two groups that could advance to an eventual presidential second round, scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

Political organizations will be previously organized in alphabetical order and will be assigned a consecutive number. To determine your final position on the voting record, a system of numbered ballots will be used.

An ONPE official will be responsible for showing the balls to the notary public and the attendees. The political organization whose number is drawn first will occupy the first position on the voting record, and so on until the total order is completed.
