Elections 2026: JNE announces that parties can now register their candidates

The spokesperson for National Election JuryCynthia Bustamante, announced that the 39 political organizations (37 parties and 2 alliances) authorized to apply in the 2026 General Election They can now digitally register their respective candidates on the Declara+ platform.

The official assured that the portal has been enabled since November 10 and that this information was sent to the political parties to avoid mishaps in the registration of the candidacies, as well as in the filling out of the affidavits of resumes. In that sense, he indicated that the deadline expires on December 23.

The JNE considers that around 10,000 candidates will participate in next year’s general elections. However, he warned that, so far, only 817 resume affidavits have been submitted on the digital platform. These documents were presented by 19 of the 39 political organizations authorized to participate in the electoral process.

“The National Election Jury (JNE) expects the registration of approximately ten thousand candidates. However, as of Friday, December 5, only 817 affidavits of resumes were completed. These correspond to 19 political organizations,” he noted in RPP.

Given this, the JNE spokesperson urged political parties to “fill out these resume affidavits with due advance notice, so that they can optimize their time for the presentation of their candidates.”
