Months ago, he declared to La República that “the consolidation of the party as a traditional organization and its positioning in the status quo have generated a shift towards what ‘works’, such as the hegemony of the free market, even bordering on conservatism. A clear example is the distancing from the Constitution of ’79, despite being one of the most important political legacies of the party.”
Garrido Lecca is accompanied in his presidential plank by Omar Quesada, former regional president of Ayacucho, and Olga Cribilleros. In the case of Del Castillo, his formula includes the former congressman Mauricio Mulder as first vice president and Belén García as second vice president.
Enrique Valderrama could surprise
Beyond the traditional names, the candidacy of Enrique Valderrama. The 37-year-old lawyer has started his campaign calling for the renewal of the party. He maintains that it is necessary to replace historical paintings with new figures to set a different course.
“I consider that at the party’s bases there is a majority tendency in favor of change. Those colleagues who have had the opportunity to represent the party in the Legislature or in the Executive are seen by the militancy as figures who must accompany the 2026 process, but not necessarily from the first positions, but rather as advisors, providing technical support,” Valderrama stated to this medium months ago.
Valderrama is running alongside María Valdivia and Lucio Vásquez as first and second vice president, respectively.
