Elections 2023: almost 190,000 young people are eligible to vote for the first time

The Electoral Justice indicated that according to data provided by the Vice-directorate of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), a total of 187,464 young people between 18 and 25 years of age will be able to cast their vote for the first time on April 30.

It is worth mentioning that according to Law No. 4559/12 that establishes the Automatic Registration in the Permanent Civic Registry, Paraguayans who turn eighteen years of age as of January 16, 2012, will be part of the Permanent Civic Registry (RCP) automatically.

In this sense, the Electoral Justice indicated that citizens will be automatically enrolled to the extent that they reach the required age. The address and other data will be taken from the database of the Identification Department of the National Police. People who do not have a defined address must make a new registration at the offices of the Electoral Registry.

In this sense, since the approval of the law, A total of 962,665 voters were benefited from the aforementioned regulations and from this figure it can be deduced that 187,464 young people between the ages of 18 and 25 are entitled to vote for the first time in the National and Departmental Elections on April 30, according to the data provided by the ICT vice-directorate.

For said elections 4,782,940 voters are enabled and 12,259 Vote Receiving Tables will be installed in 1,157 polling places. 9,095 candidates will seek to be elected to the positions of President and Vice President of the Republic, senators, deputies, governors and members of Departmental Boards. Of the aforementioned number, 6,098 are men and 2,997 are women. 68 political organizations are presented, of which 35 are political parties, 7 are political movements, 25 alliances and 1 agreement.

The elections will be held also in the countries of Argentina, Brazil, USA and Spain, where a total of 41,505 compatriots residing in those countries are qualified.

As for the beneficiaries of the Accessible Vote, 567 citizens will be able to vote through the Vote at Home and through the Accessible Table or Table N° 1, 5,598 people.

Voting at Home will be implemented in Asunción, Coronel Oviedo, Encarnación, Ciudad del Este, Fernando de la Mora, Lambaré, Luque, San Lorenzo, Capiatá, Ñemby, Mariano R. Alonso, Villa Elisa and Villa Hayes. In the case of voting at the Accessible Table, this will be implemented throughout the country.
