Elections 2022: until TODAY you can excuse yourself for not being a polling station member at this LINK

If you were elected as a member of the polling station for the Regional and Municipal Elections 2022, next Sunday, October 2, but you will not be able to carry out your work, you have until this Monday, August 22 at midnight to present an excuse or justification for the position, according to informed the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE).

How do I know if I am a table member?

First of all, you must verify if you were drawn as polling station members for the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections. The access link enabled by ONPE is: .

To know if you were chosen as a member of the main or substitute table, you only need to place your ID in said link.

In which cases can I make an excuse?

The Organic Law of Elections states that the position of polling station member is inalienable, however, the citizens drawn to carry out said work can present an excuse in these cases:

  • Serious physical or mental handicap.
  • For having to be absent from Peruvian territory.
  • Be older than 70 years.

Likewise, for being involved in any of the impediments established in article 57 of the aforementioned rule and two more causes included by the ONPE. These are:

  • Candidates and representatives of political organizations.
  • Officials and/or servers of the Peruvian Electoral System.
  • Members of the Public Ministry who will work on the prevention and investigation of electoral crimes.
  • Officials from the Ombudsman’s Office who carry out electoral supervision.
  • Pregnant women.
  • People who have children two years old or less.

Likewise, the norm includes citizens with a probability of presenting complications, if they become infected with COVID-19. These will have facilities to exempt themselves from the obligation to pay and to integrate a voting table. Among them those who suffer from heart conditions, lung diseases, cancer, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and other ailments.

How can I present the justification or excuse?

To carry out this procedure you must follow 4 steps:

Step 1:

Sign in to or go to a Banco de la Nación agency to pay the fee of S/12.60 for the process (rate 03836).

The procedure is free if you are pregnant, have children under 2 years of age or if you belong to a risk group.

Step 2:

Attach your documents and proof of payment, if required.

Step 3:

If you carry out the procedure in person, go to the ODPE (Decentralized Electoral Process Office) where you were drawn. In these cases, the service hours are until 7 pm depending on each ODPE.

Submit a simple application or P2 format, supporting documents of your circumstance and, if necessary, proof of payment.

If you are representing someone, you need a power of attorney.

The interested citizen You should not register an electoral fine for omission to vote and the documents that prove the grounds for excuses must be written in the official language (Spanish). Otherwise, an official translation must be attached.

In addition to excuses, polling station members may present a justification for their absence. This, in case they have had a duly accredited illness.

The justification must be submitted with a medical certificate up to 5 calendar days prior to the date of the election (October 2) and, exceptionally, the following day before the respective Special Electoral Jury.

Why is the deadline today?

As reported by the ONPE, you can present the excuse within five (5) business days after the publication of the final list of table members, that is, until this Monday, August 22.

How much do I get paid to be a table member?

In case you are chosen as a table member and you fulfill your duty, you will be granted a payment of 120 soles and this will be made effective in any agency of the Banco de la Nación nationwide.

It is worth mentioning that just as there is a payment for being a table member, there is also a fine if you do not attend as such, this fine is 230 soles.
