Gunmen surrounded him and shot him to death.
Neighbors reported gunshots to the police, and although an operation was carried out, no suspect was arrested.
Later, relatives arrived at the scene and identified the body.
The murder was confirmed by the president of the Fuerza por México party, Maiella Gómez.
“It is with great pain that I regret the murder of our elected municipal president of #SanFranciscoXochiltepec, Enrique Rodríguez. I join in the pain of his family and friends in the face of this irreparable loss. I trust the authorities to carry out a swift investigation so that this crime does not go unpunished. Enrique will be remembered for his commitment and love for his family and community,” the federal deputy also wrote on her social networks.

Who was Enrique Rodriguez?
Enrique Rodríguez won the mayoralty in the election on June 2 in San Felipe Xochiltepec, supported by Fuerza por México.
This is a 60-year-old man who reported having recently completed high school and was entering politics for the first time.
Last August, he said in an interview with local media that he was already preparing to take up the post.
“We are going to start working, the direction (of the municipality) was very bad and we came to make the change so that Xochiltepec can move forward, now with our administration as president,” he said on that occasion.
