The Colombian singer-songwriter Ela Taubert joins this year as a penny volunteer and main guest artist at the Centamaratón 2024 “Together we give them a future”, organized by the Santa Cruz Mercantile Foundation – “You Can Believe”, which is the social arm of the BMSC.

Ela Taubert is a young 24-year-old artist who uses music as a vehicle to send a message of self-love, empowerment and hope, in her emotional lyrics and pop, pop rock and ballad melodies.

Ela has surpassed two million monthly listeners on Spotify and more than 60 million combined streams. She has been nominated for the Nuestra Tierra Awards for Best Female Pop Artist and Best Pop Song for “Como es que tú?” and has recently received his first nomination for the Latin Grammys in the category of “Best New Artist”.

How did the inspiration for these songs come about?

So far all my songs have come from my own stories and experiences. For me, music has been my refuge, a form of relief. This process has been very special because I write from a healthier place, about things that happened a long time ago. Each song reflects a little bit of me.

Speaking of yourself, you mention two facets: “the pink Ela” and “the blue Ela”, what do they mean?

I have always been a visual person. There was a time in my life when I saw everything blue, a more vulnerable and introspective time. Then came the stage in which I became empowered and began to see things in pink, with more self-love. I understood that both facets coexist: the rude and the introspective. I incorporated these colors into both my songs and the visual aesthetic of my project.

Butterflies are a recurring symbol in your aesthetic, what do they represent for you?

Butterflies have always been part of my life. In Colombia, my country, it is the country of butterflies. Since I was little, they fascinated me, and over time they became a kind of sign for me. I see them as a faithful company and as a symbol of my personal and artistic evolution.

Talking about your career, you had a great moment with the song “Grow” in 2022, how has the evolution been since then?

“Grow” It was a before and after in my life. It helped me get through a difficult time, but it also taught me that those moments of vulnerability bring out the best in you. It has been a very nice path and has allowed me to connect more with my audience, which has been growing over time.

What projects are coming in the future?

My community is my refuge, they will always be present. I am very excited to be in Bolivia for the first time and meet my fans in person. Also, in November I will be at the Latin Grammys, which makes me very excited. I hope to surprise you with new projects soon!

We are waiting for you at the Centamaratón to continue supporting us to truly continue creating a better future.
