An alleged criminal identified as Ángel Eduardo Aponte Heredia, alias El Flaco, died Thursday night after facing security commissions in the Bolívar municipality of Aragua state.
Aponte was identified as one of those responsible for the murder of PNB officer Lionel Alejandro Ruiz Otalora.
The confrontation occurred around 8 pm on the main street of the Los Angelinos neighborhood of San Mateo, during a special operation deployed by the police forces to find the perpetrators of the crime against official Ruiz.
According to the official report, commissions from the Rural Police, attached to the PNB, were carrying out investigative work when they detected four subjects in a suspicious attitude. When trying to tell them to stop, one of them opened fire on the uniformed officers, which sparked an exchange of gunfire.
