August 1, 2024 in La Enconada, near the highway between Cotoca and Pailón, a shootout took place between two sides. The result of the confrontation was one man dead and another seriously injured. The latter is Erlan Ivar García López, known as ‘El Colla’, identified as the right-hand man of the fugitive trafficker Sebastián Marset.

García enjoys alternative measures with house arrestwithin investigations against him for crimes of trafficking in controlled substances, legitimation of illicit profits and criminal organization.
The investigations have been carried out since July 2023 by the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking (Felcn) and the Anti-Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation booklet indicates that on August 1, Erlan Ivar García was traveling on the highway near La Enconada in a car with license plate 6291-AFB. García López was accompanied by Yermy Pastor Zampiery Suárez and two other men, when suddenly They were intercepted by a black truck. Two armed individuals descended and opened fire, causing the instant death of Zampiery Suárez.
According to police reports, it was a crossfire because from the car where Erlan Ivar García was traveling, they also responded with bullets to his attackers who were forced to escape in an unknown direction.

Two arrested

‘Teddy’ sent two hitmen
Investigations indicate that a Paraguayan pilot, known as Teddy, sent two hitman brothers to Santa Cruz who already have a record of executing people in drug trafficking settlements. ‘Teddy’ and Erland García – according to the investigations – were trusted by Marset, but disputes arose over power in Bolivia. The Felcc and the Prosecutor’s Office have so far failed to receive García López’s statement that due to the shooting he is also being investigated for possession and carrying of firearms.
