The Venezuelan midfielder José ‘El Brujo’ Martínez This Wednesday he justified his absence from the Corinthians ranks due to the crisis in his country, which prevents him from renewing his passport to legally return to Brazil.

Through a statement on his social networks, Martínez argued that the situation in Venezuela, after the capture and deposition of the president Nicolas Maduro by United States forces, has “difficult access to basic services provided by organizations” official and, therefore, paralyzed the issuance of identity documents.

“In addition to being a travel document, my passport is what gives me the right to act in Brazil, with my work visa,” said the 31-year-old player, who returned to Venezuela during the vacation period.

Martínez also commented that “I would be much happier” If I could have returned to Brazil and “start the season” together with his companions, “training, defending the colors and helping Timão to win victories and titles.”

Likewise, the midfielder, who arrived at Corinthians in August 2024 with a contract until the end of 2027, stated that the management and technical commission, under the command of Dorival Juniorhas “full knowledge of all steps” what is being carried out to reverse the situation.
