The Venezuelan Oil Minister, Tareck el Aissami, described this Sunday as a “terrorist attack” a fire in a gas pipeline operated by the state oil company PDVSA in the east of the country.
“We raise our complaint to the country, and the peoples of the world, about a new attack on the gas system in eastern Venezuela. These are the same terrorist groups as always, which have acted against the national interest to affect the lives of our people,” the official said. Twitter.
This “vile attack”, he continued, “is part of the script of sabotage perpetrated by the enemies of peace.”
El Aissami explained that they are working to put out the “fire caused by this criminal action”, as well as to “regularize the service of this infrastructure.
Although the official did not say in which state of the country the event took place, numerous local media had reported a fire at Pvdsa’s gas facilities in Monagas state.
“Together with the working class of PDVSA, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, technical personnel and firefighters, we will be able to recover our gas pipeline immediately,” he said on the same social network, in which he shared images showing the fire.
In addition, the minister warned that they will go “after those directly responsible and those who planned” this attack, “for their capture and prosecution.”
The government has denounced numerous attacks on the installations of state companies such as PDVSA or the Corpoelec electricity company, both guarded by the state security forces, and, on occasions, has blamed the Venezuelan opposition for being behind these sabotage plans.
