Eight of the nine teenagers detained in the state of Nueva Esparta during post-election protests were released. A 16-year-old boy is still incarcerated.
One of those who was released came of age while he was behind bars at the Los Cocos checkpoint. In the middle of last week, it was learned that three young people had been released and three others had been released last Friday, December 13.
All were held in the Los Cocos Detention Center, administered by the Minor Care Institute of the state of Nueva Esparta (Iamene).

The releases took place progressively, completing eight young people released this week.
As the national government has been releasing people who were detained after the electoral protests of July 29 and 30 in rejection of the results issued by the National Electoral Council (CNE) that gave Nicolás Maduro the winner for a third term, it has been imprisoning other people like Jesús Armas.
