The accident occurred this Sunday around 11:00 a.m. on the highway that connects the city of Cancún with Mérida, the capital of the state of Yucatán, where the company Ingenieros Civiles Asociados (ICA) is building section 4 of the Mayan Train.
According to preliminary data, 40 passengers were traveling on the bus, including foreign tourists from Canada, France, Pakistan and some Mexicans.
The collision occurred at kilometer 242 of the toll highway, almost an hour after the bus had left Cancun for Merida.
Emergency teams and police officers from nearby municipalities arrived at the scene to carry out rescue work and attend to the injured.
