This Wednesday they registered 1,746 new cases of covid-19 and eight deaths in Santa Cruz, according to the Headquarters report. Since the beginning of the sixth wave (December 5), these are the first deaths due to the virus. The last report of deaths due to complications due to the coronavirus was November 30, when a deceased was registered.
It is unknown why a large number of deaths have been reported on this day, although on other occasions, from the Headquarters it was clarified that the provinces take time to send their reports due to deficiencies in the computer system and sometimes, there is an accumulation that increases the figure.
Only three provinces of the 15 in the department did not register new infections this Wednesday.
In the date 1,950 people were immunized against the virus. Vaccination coverage with the first dose reaches 76% of the population; in the case of the second dose, it amounts to 55%, while the third reaches 21%.
Vaccination is free and available at 64 points authorized by the Government in the city and more than a hundred in the provinces.
The diagnostic tests, meanwhile, they are available in the first and second level health centerswhich depend on the Municipality and which also enabled seven massive points for taking these quick exams, which are free of charge for the citizen.
The health authorities insist on continuing with the biosecurity measures: use of chinstrap or mask, especially in closed spaces; avoid agglomeration of people; physical distancing of at least meter and a half, between person and person, and hand sanitizer with alcohol 70% gel or liquid, or frequent hand washing with soap and water.
