The congressman of Popular Action, Edwin Martínez announced that he delivered a USB with conversations which show shielding and coordination between congressmen of Peru Libre and state officials to avoid the capture of the fugitive Vladimir Cerron.
Through a statement, the parliamentarian indicated that he sent the information to the Judiciary, the Attorney General’s Office, the Ministry of the Interior, the State Attorney General’s Office and the Attorney General of the Congress of the republic so that the corresponding investigations can be carried out.
“I have made the information detailed in the USB known to the national press and I have made it available to the offices of the aforementioned entities. In accordance with their organic law and jurisdiction, they must begin investigations and classification of the crimes arising from the contents of the USB. I demand that all necessary guarantees be given for the broadest possible investigation, out of respect for the Peruvian people and democracy in the country,” reads the last part of the statement.
Statement by Edwin Martinez.
On the eve of the Fiestas Patrias celebrations, on July 27, the congressman revealed in an interview on Canal N that he was given a USB at the door of his office and asked not to be an accomplice to corruption.
Who are the congressmen who would be involved in protecting Vladimir Cerrón?
During the interview, Martinez indicated that the Congressmen from Peru Libre that appear in the coordinations are Américo Gonza, Kelly PortalatinoMaría Agüero, and suggested the name of the second vice president of the Board of Directors, Waldemar Cerrón.
“I received a USB with all this information. Apparently, it would have compromised some congressmen of the Republic such as Janet Rivas Chacana, Américo Gonza, Kelly Portalatino. Waldemar Cerrón, María Agüero, and the regional governor of Arequipa (Rohel Sánchez) are mentioned. The conversations suggest where Vladimir Cerrón could be located and who supposedly protects him. Apparently, there are congressmen who pressure the Executive, specifically the general secretary of the Government Palace, indicating that they have done their part and now it is up to them (the Palace) to do theirs,” he explained.
According to the parliamentarian, the conversations refer to the place where he would be hiding. Vladimir Cerronwhich would be in Caylloma, Arequipa.
Martínez Talavera also revealed that he sent the information to the Minister of the Interior, Juan José SantiváñezHowever, the response he got was that the conversations would be a clue to “distract.”
The regional governor of Arequipa, Rohel Sánchez, was also mentioned as one of the authorities who appear in the conversations. This information was confirmed by Martínez on two occasions: in the interview on Canal N and in the statements he gave to Exitosa in Arequipa.
Is Governor Rohel Sánchez involved in these parliamentary pressures to let Vladimir Cerrón go? “The regional governor is also in the talks with some parliamentarians,” he declared to the regional press.
Rohel Sánchez sent a notarized letter to the congressman to rectify the situation
The parliamentarian’s statements were not well received by his colleagues or by the regional governor of Arequipa, Rohel Sánchez, who sent a notarized letter asking him to rectify his statement.
“Unfortunately, these statements are defamatory and false. I have sent him a notarized letter asking him to rectify this because I must be clear and precise. I categorically deny these statements, these claims, since Mr. Vladimir Cerrón is a fugitive from justice and must answer for his actions. I do not know him, therefore I have never dealt with him,” he said in an interview on Canal N.
The official also denied knowing the fugitive leader of Peru Libre.
