Educators discuss the new challenges of post-pandemic education

Hoy Paraguay

Grupo Cápita, representative of the online skills educational software solution Progrentis in Mexico and the Southern Cone, held a meeting with teachers and directors to discuss the Pillars of the post-pandemic school. The event was attended by Emilio Torres, pedagogical director of Progrentis. It took place on Thursday, September 22 at the Sheraton Asunción hotel.

In the Pillars of post-pandemic education talk, Torres, with extensive experience as director of schools and academic preparation in the area, invited those present to reflect on the urgent call to constantly renew schools and why. Torres, who has taken this talk to various countries in the Americas and Europe, arrived in Paraguay with experiences to share and the goal of reflecting with educators on the purpose of today’s school, which should aim for students to have the opportunity to identify their course and know what their own identity is as well as being competent and having the necessary skills to learn throughout life in the challenging professional future of the 21st century.

“We live in a demanding moment for educational systems. As a school, it is essential to continue reflecting and taking into account that the challenge is not to digitize the school, but to humanize it, taking advantage of technology”, says the Progrentis pedagogical director.

In this sense, the Progrentis pedagogical proposal, designed ten years ago with the digital paradigm in mind, was ahead of the times we live in, training the comprehension, resolution, research and attentional skills of students in the digital age with proven positive results. . “What happened in the pandemic proved us right, technology-adaptive learning must be our ally,” exclaims Torres, who during his talk also spoke about the paradigm shift needed to move towards the education that children need today, putting them as the protagonist of their learning.

For his part, Rodrigo Cabarrús, Director of Grupo Cápita, explains in this regard: “Our entire solution is focused on training skills from neuroscience. It is a personalized gym for the student. Our platform is very intuitive and pleasant for the student, offering microtasks and challenges to develop skills. The diagnostic solution trains and self-assesses users, providing the teacher or institution with all the progress data in various lines: skills, competencies and learning objectives”.

Progrentis prepares students for the great challenge of the 21st century: information literacy, a process that includes, in addition to comprehensive reading and writing, the ability to locate, organize, understand, evaluate and analyze the unlimited information found on the Internet. The Progrentis methodology is a complementary and fundamental solution for any educational system that accompanies the curriculum and trains cognitive skills that students can apply in work, social and personal environments.

Present in more than 1,500 schools and colleges in Latin America and Spain since 2012, Progrentis, represented in Paraguay by Grupo Cápita, is already operating in 10 schools in the country. Likewise, the highest ranked schools in Ibero-America and the best 8 schools in Spain use Progrentis.

How does it work

Students can connect from any device with Internet access. With a personalized route of microtasks (challenges to develop skills), the pedagogical proposal requires 90 minutes of training per week divided between school and home.

The operation of the system is as follows: the student receives an individual access user per school year. The activities are adjusted to the age range, the skills, the profile of multiple intelligences and the performance of the student. The system diagnoses, trains and self-assesses the student throughout the process and remains accessible at all times. Every time the boy starts a session, he picks up the task from the last activity.

For its part, the institution has a management system that allows the teacher to monitor the progress of students in multiple dimensions.

Teachers are also trained to use the tool, becoming tutors, since they make up the active part of this educational solution. The platform has a progress notification system so that the tutor and parents know the child’s progress.

Training programs and travel for directors

Other services provided by this company are training in active methodologies, workshops focused on strengthening groups of teachers and bringing best practices to the classroom. They are taught by the international pedagogical team of Progrentis.

Another option proposed by the firm are two annual international educational visits for directors to experience in situ the innovative methodologies of outstanding Progrentis educational centers in Spain.

Additionally, it addresses, in conferences for parents, the need for educational innovation and the key skills in the digital age for the successful training of professionals in the 21st century, by international educators.
