Río Branco Technical School with Binational Tertiary courses

The Technical School of Río Branco offers study opportunities at three levels, that is, Comprehensive Basic Education (EBI), Baccalaureate and also Technical Degrees.

The institution closed 2024 with an enrollment of 700 students.

In relation to the binational courses, it was possible to have transportation which is expected to be maintained over time.

“Showing what tertiary education is throughout the department of Cerro Largo seems extremely important to us” highlighted the Professor Alejandra Vergara.

“The Technical School of Río Branco is an educational center attended by about 700 students. We have all Levels: Basic, Middle and Tertiary, something that we are continually reiterating to the population since it is the way for young people who cannot go to the capital to have training in their own city. Wow yes that will be important” highlighted the Director of the institution.

“What characterizes us as a School, what we have different from the others at the tertiary level, are the binational courses” he pointed out.

“These binational courses are based on an agreement between countries –Uruguay and Brazil- which makes the course valid for work both in our country and in Brazil” Vergara remarked.

“We have two Techniques. One is the Bilingual Executive Secretariat that is taught at the Río Branco Technical School and the other at the Yaguarón IFSUL Campus and is under construction.” reported.

“In this cultural exchange that we have between small cities, there is a very rich possibility of exchange” highlighted the Director of the Technical School of Río Branco.

“In addition, this year the issue of transportation was achieved” he stressed. “While it seems that the institutions are so close, that bridge that unites us, but it also separates us a little because we are talking about places that are far from each other. Happily, transportation was achieved that takes our students to IFSUL and in turn brings the students from Yaguarón to Río Branco.” he stated.

“It is an achievement, a service for which we are taking all the steps so that it can be maintained, so that it has continuity over time” said Professor Alejandra Vergara.

“One of the objectives for the future is to add internships and other types of Techniques, both binational and those that are not” the Director stated.

“Another proposal that we already have is Human Management that is also taught in Melo at the Higher Technical School. It is a good option that we have because coming from Río Branco to Melo is not easy either” accurate.

“That our students have the possibility of where to do EBI, where to do Baccalaureate and then continue in a Technical Degree is of utmost importance” considered Professor Alejandra Vergara.
