SANTIAGO.-The northern regional director of the Ministry of Education with a seat in this city, informed that everything is ready to start next Monday 25 of the currents, the 2025-2026 school year of the Public Educational System of the Dominican Republic and that they have more than one hundred new classrooms and the program of attention to school overpopulation (pass) will be applied, which guarantees spaces for all students.
Pedro Pablo Marte indicated that in this province a registration of 175 thousand students in the public sector is expected, while in the private sector it is greater than the 55 thousand students.
He reiterated that no student will remain without receiving teaching due to lack of classrooms and that in addition to the new hundred spaces that will be incorporated, some campuses are being completed for incorporation into the Dominican education system.
As for the new classrooms, the educational official said that there will be 24 new classrooms in the Polytechnic Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, 24 at the Secondary Lyceum of the Municipality of Janico, another 24 in the Nicolás Ureña Polytechnic, of the municipality of Navarrete; 12 classrooms in the Municipal District of Las Placetas, of San José de las Matas and 22 in schools of the initial level located in the communities of Canela and Villa Bao.
Likewise, Pedro Pablo Marte reported that new school transport units were received and that they will offer efficient service in the transfer of students to the different official schools.
The magisterial current of the Force del Pueblo Party (FP) has been denouncing that thousands of students could not register for the next school year due to the lack of classrooms and educational centers that have not been completed.
