Education confirms irregularities in the Navy School, but it says it has everything in order

A report on the irregularities in the Maritime School (ESMA) It is in the office of the Minister of Education, Edgar Pary, who can pronounce himself this week and give tuition to the Vice Ministry of Higher Education to take action. Although this military entity issued a statement in which ensures that everything is in order and that its operation is legal.

“I cannot advance anything at this time until the dispatch determination is released, based on that, the corresponding measures and actions will be taken, but already there is a report of certain type of irregularities that this school has committed”, advanced the Vice Minister of Higher Education, José Luis Gutiérrez.

The Maritime School is an academic unit that depends on the Bolivian Navy and it works in La Paz. Students of that entity denounced that due to lack of authorization from the Ministry of Education they cannot give them titlesbut they still get charged.

“The Maritime School has the respective Ministerial Resolutions endorsed by the Ministry of Education, which are public on the web page of the Maritime School (www.esma.edu.bo); those that authorize the legal operation of the races ”, assures the statement of this institution dependent on the Navy.

However, this Tuesday, again the students contacted EL DEBER and reported that in their institute They admitted that there were “bureaucratic problems” with the Ministry of Education, but they will be solved until the end of November and the titles can be issued for the students who have already graduated.

But Vice Minister Gutiérrez reported that ESMA, as an academic unit, is prevented from issuing titles and explained that the only way he could do it is through his university called, Universidad Militar Mariscal Bernardino Bilbao Rioja.

“Everything (degree is) through the military university, ESMA is an academic unit dependent on the military university, the military university is the one that has the prerogative to extend academic degrees, ESMA is not enabled”, concluded the authority.

According to the explanation of the educational authority, The Minister of Education will announce the decision on this case until the weekend. While the Vice Minister of Consumer Defense, Jorge Silva, had anticipated that he will request a report from this academy.
