The Ministry of Education this Tuesday urged parents to get involved in the teaching-learning processes in schools, so that their children can develop the values, skills and routines required to achieve success.
“This link between school and home is essential to be able to form citizens with the values, competencies and skills that the country really needs,” said the Vice Minister of Technical and Pedagogical Services of the Ministry of EducationAncell Scheker.
The official stated that this approach is essential “not only for general national development, but also for individual and community development.”
Ancell Scheker gave the keynote speech at the Second National Family Seminar 2024, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, within the framework of Family Month.
He said that this conclave called “Strengthening my role as a responsible father, mother or caregiver,” seeks to provide the necessary tools to strengthen the bond between school and family, to achieve quality education.
The activity was organized by the Ministry’s Community Participation Directorate and was aimed at members of the Associations of Fathers, Mothers and Friends of the School (Apmae).

Ancell Scheker said that educational authorities are committed to strengthening the bond between school and family to achieve healthy development in students.
He urged school directors throughout the national territory to work towards that goal.

“We work to achieve healthy development in students, with the strengths and abilities that allow them to grow comprehensively for their well-being and integration into society,” he said.
In that sense, he considered that it is essential to continue strengthening the Associations of Fathers, Mothers and Friends of the School.
He assured that the Ministry of Education will provide tools and strategies to families for positive parenting of their children.
He recalled that this State agency develops various programs that will help in this process, such as Parenting Skills, Strong Families and Committed Families, among others. “These and other programs help us make the involvement between family and school more effective.”

Jaime Tolentino, president of Apmae, highlighted the importance of the seminar to motivate families to know their role, to strengthen it and multiply it in educational centers.
The seminar included the conference “The supporting role of families in the comprehensive development of their children”, given by Ángela Español, executive director of the 512 Institute.
Eddy Chávez, director of Education Regional 15, participated; Milcíades Franjul, director of the Family Cabinet and representatives of the National Council for Children and Adolescents (Conani) and the National Disability Council (Conadis).
