Eduardo Salhuana: There should not be a new expansion of Reinfo

“Six months (is the expansion). We have to work hard (in that time to pass the ASM law). It is the effort we have to make. I think that Congress has that work to do,” he said, referring to the work that the Energy and Mines Commission will have to do to approve the opinion of the Small Mining and Artisanal Mining Law (ASM Law), which would have to put an end to Reinfo.

Peru21 has revealed today that it is almost a fact that the opinion of the Small Mining and Artisanal Mining Law, ASM Law, sent by the Executive, will only be ready next year to be put to a vote in the Plenary.

This was confirmed when in the plenary session last Friday, in which the extension of up to one year of the Comprehensive Registry of Mining Formalization (Reinfo) was approved by force, the president of the Energy Commission, Paul Gutiérrez, said that “realistically” the ASM Law will be seen in the next legislature.

In our today’s edition, Peru21 has been able to corroborate that the informal miners of the National Confederation of Small Mining and Artisanal Mining of Peru (Confemin Perú) will once again stick their noses in the MAPE Law, which establishes the end of the Reinfo, just as they did with the ruling of the law that expands the aforementioned record.

At the meeting of the advisors of the congressmen of the Energy Commission, held last Friday, it was agreed to form working tables in which various actors from the mining sector will be present, including the leaders of informal miners.
