The pre-candidate for the presidency, for the free application, Eduardo Quirós, asked the Electoral Tribunal (TE) for a debate of independent pre-candidates.
In a letter, Quirós asks the magistrates of the TE to be promoters of a “debate of ideas” among the pre-candidates for the free application that have complied with the 2% (39,296) signatures required in the collection process that ends on December 30. July.
In the document sent to the magistrates’ office, it explains that “the Electoral Code establishes that the Court will promote and regulate the holding of debates between the presidential candidates and clearly establishes the interest that the political offer can permeate the entire population, without exclusion, in order to generate the informed vote.
He also points out that this should be a democratic debate that is focused on the changes that Panama needs and not on clientelism or who has more money.
“Panamanians deserve to have a debate called so that they know our trajectory, ideas and proposals. I’m ready!” He concluded.
