Edomex, CDMX and Jalisco will receive more money in 2023 from the federal government

All based on and weighted to the number of residents for each entity, refers to the Directorate of Investigation and Analysis Services of the Chamber of Deputies.

The State of Mexico, the most populous in the country, will have resources for participations during the year, for 126,606 million pesos (14.22%); Mexico City, which concentrates most of the domiciles of large and transnational companies, will receive 87,985 million (9.88%) from the Federation, and Jalisco, 60,049 million (6.74% of all participations, according to what was published by the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).

Meanwhile, the states that will receive fewer resources are Colima, with 5,260 million pesos (0.59%); Baja California Sur, 6,013 million (0.67%), and Campeche, 6,772 million (0.76%).

Although the General Participation Fund has an amount greater than last year’s budget, 747,354 million pesos, analysts and the Moody’s credit rating agency have warned that this income will not be achieved, due to the optimistic estimate in the package for growth, and therefore a higher estimate for the collection of public money.

If the federal government collects less income than expected, it will be compensated with money that is in the Feief Stabilization Fund, which, according to Moody’s estimates, will close 2022 with income of 21,368 million pesos, which would be reduced by 43% in 2023. At the end of 2018, the balance of the stabilization fund was 88,722 million.

On January 30, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit will announce the balances of this Fund and the Stabilization of Budgetary Income (FEIP).
