Rodrigues had been interim president since the removal of Rogério Caboclo last June, dismissed from office after being accused of moral and sexual harassment. Before the position, he was the vice president of the CBF in Caboclo’s term.
the new president received the support of 26 of the 27 regional football confederations in the country. What’s more, it received the vote of the twenty clubs in the first division and 19 of the 20 in the second division. The only vote that did not receive was that of Ponte Preta, annulled due to bureaucratic problems. This support confirms his position in favor of giving more voice and rights to the clubs along with the initiative to create a League in Brazil so that the national tournament does not depend on the CBFas usual.
