Edmundo González Urrutia suspends agenda for health reasons

The Official Spokesperson of Venezuela reported this Monday that the elected president Edmundo González Urrutia presents a hip ailment and will remain at rest during the next few days by medical indication, in attention to your health.

Through a statement released on social networks, the office indicated that González “is going through a hip ailment for which he is receiving medical attention” and that, following the recommendations, will temporarily suspend its public agenda.

He indicated that the leader will not attend to commitments or grant interviews while completing the recovery process. No details were clarified about the diagnosis or the estimated rest time.

The Official Spokesperson of Venezuela, the space where González and opposition leader María Corina Machado disseminate information, added that the president-elect “He remains in constant contact with his team and attentive to the country’s affairs”.

Likewise, he stated that he will fully resume his activities “as soon as he has medical authorization.”

Machado sent wishes for a speedy recovery to González: “Dear Edmundo, we Venezuelans are very attentive to you and we pray that you recover very soon and Keep up your extraordinary work.”

María Corina Machado will return to Venezuela

The health condition of Edmundo González Urrutia is known only hours after María Corina Machado assured that She plans to return to Venezuela in the coming weeks. On this point, the elected president has not made any statements nor has he specified whether he plans to return to the country soon.

“I am going to return to Venezuela in a few weeks. I want to do it as hundreds and thousands of Venezuelan exiles around the world also want,” said the leader in a video broadcast on her social networks, after pointing out that her objective is to guarantee an orderly transition towards democracy, a national agreement to achieve governability and prepare for “a new and gigantic” electoral victory.

In the presidential elections of July 28, 2024, González won with 7,443,584 votes (67%), while the Chavismo candidate, Nicolás Maduro, currently imprisoned in New York on charges related to narcoterrorism, obtained 3,385,155 votes (30%).

Still It is not clear if González will be able to assume the Presidency while possible elections are called.
