The president-elect, Edmundo González Urrutia, announced the cancellation of his agenda in North America due to the kidnapping of his son-in-law in Caracas.
González Urrutia was in the United States and planned to meet with several North American leaders in order to gain international support for his position as president-elect.
González Urrutia managed to meet with President Joe Biden, and the National Security Advisor appointed by President-elect Donald Trump, Mike Waltz. However, the news of his son-in-law’s kidnapping in Venezuela cut short his plans.
As is known, it was González Urrutia himself who announced the news of his son-in-law’s kidnapping through his social networks.
“This morning my son-in-law Rafael Tudares was kidnapped,” Edmundo González Urrutia wrote on the X network from Washington, where the day before he was received by President Joe Biden.
“Rafael was going to my grandchildren’s school to drop them off for the start of classes, hooded men dressed in black intercepted him, put him in a gold-colored truck (…), and took him away. At this time he is missing,” he said.

In this way, the dictatorship – which threatens to capture González if he arrives in Caracas – intensifies its actions against the opposition that announced a march for this Thursday.
María Corina Machado shared a message detailing that Rafael – González’s son-in-law – was kidnapped in front of his two small children, ages 7 and 6, when he was taking them to a school in Caracas.
“This has to stop. ENOUGH NOW! They will not stop the change,” says the message on X that Machado retweeted.
