On the night of Tuesday, January 10, Armas was arrested by unidentified hooded officials in a gray van when the leader was leaving a cafe in the Baruta municipality.

For her part, the leader of the opposition, María Corina Machado, assured that this arrest “is a crime for tyranny.”

Machado maintained that Jesús Armas is a “young leader, brave and committed to democracy and the Freedom of Venezuela.” In the same way, he affirmed that they will not rest for him and all the others irregularly imprisoned.

Jesús Armas was a councilor for Libertador between 2013 and 2018 and put his name to run for Mayor. He was part of the Primero Justicia party, but resigned in July 2023 to join Vente Venezuela, founded by María Corina Machado. He was also part of the ConVzla Command.
