Edmundo González: I extend my hand to the ruling party for an orderly and peaceful transition

Edmundo González Urrutia

In an interview with France 24 in Spanish, Edmundo González Urrutia stated that before January 10, 2025, several countries in the region will speak out recognizing his electoral victory.

Edmundo González Urrutia reaffirmed his commitment to national reconciliation and called on the ruling party to dialogue to guarantee an orderly and peaceful transition in 2025

“We intend to reconcile all Venezuelans. I extend my hand to the ruling party for an orderly and peaceful transition,” he expressed during an interview with the French media France 24.

The former diplomat also made it clear that he does not consider it viable to govern from exile, and stressed his intention to be sworn in on Venezuelan territory.

“I ruled out a government in exile, my intention is to take the oath and assume the presidency of the Republic in Venezuela,” he said.

In his statements, González Urrutia highlighted his legitimacy as the winner of the elections and assured that he is prepared to assume office, backed by evidence that supports his victory compared to the official results of the presidential elections that declared Nicolás Maduro as the winner.

“I am the one who will take office on January 10 because I am the one who can demonstrate his victory. The ruling party cannot do the same,” he pointed out. He stated that he has a “strategy” to return to Venezuelan territory from his exile.
