During his participation in a forum organized by the Málaga Business Circle, he said that he hopes that the releases represent a change of direction in Venezuela.

According to the non-governmental organization Foro Penal, 131 people were released, a large part of that group are teenagers.

González described the suffering of families separated from their loved ones as “disgusting” and denounced possible cruel treatment towards some detainees.

“I hope that this date will be a reunion for all Venezuelans. “I plan to return to my country with the hope of assuming the Government,” he declared.

When asked about Donald Trump’s victory in the recent US elections, he indicated that we will have to wait until January to see the first signs of the new US government.

“So far we have seen hardline appointments. This should not make the Government of Venezuela happy,” he commented.

During his speech, González Urrutia addressed the serious economic situation in Venezuela, which he described as “one of the deepest crises in its recent history.” He pointed out that the country has suffered an economic contraction of more than 70% of GDP, the closure of more than two-thirds of industrial companies and a mass exodus of more than eight million people, which he described as a “drain of talent and strength.” labor”.

The opposition leader attributed this panorama to a “radical change” in the political and economic model, although he was optimistic about the future: “With the right policies, Venezuela can regain its place, as it was during the second half of the 20th century.” .
