The secretary general of Popular Action, Edmundo del Águila, and the president of said party, Mesías Guevara, clashed on social networks over which of the two legitimately represents the party founded by Fernando Belaunde Terry.
Del Águila wrote on his Twitter account that Guevara attended the meeting called by President Pedro Castillo “in a personal capacity” and not on behalf of Popular Action.
LOOK: Popular Action specifies that Mesías Guevara does not represent the party
“In my capacity as Secretary General of Popular Action, I clarify that the assistance of Crr. Mesías Guevara to the meeting held on 12-29-21 with President Castillo it was in a personal capacity and does not commit Acción Popular to its agreements “, noted del Águila on Twitter.
Faced with this message, Mesías Guevara used the same social network to point out that the National Elections Jury still does not recognize Del Águila as general secretary, despite the fact that he was proclaimed the winner in their internal elections. Along these lines, he affirmed that the meeting he had with the head of state was not to “negotiate.”
“In my capacity as President of Popular Action, I clarify that Corr. Edmundo Del Águila is not recognized and registered by the National Elections Jury, therefore it does not represent the party. The meeting called by President Pedro Castillo, has not been to make agreements less to negotiate “, he asserted.
It should be noted that the meeting called by Castillo Terrones was attended by Ruth Luque and Roberto Sánchez, from Together for Peru; Álex Paredes and Paul Gutiérrez Ticona from Perú Libre; the president of Popular Action, Mesías Guevara, and the spokesman for the caucus, Elvis Vergara.
Also present were Rodolfo Pérez, general secretary of the Purple Party, and Luis Flores Reátegui, general secretary of Metropolitan Lima of Avanza País, despite the fact that Patricia Chirinos, a congressman of said party, assured that they would not attend.
