This Monday, April 25, the National Party analyzed the situation of mayor Juan López, who in Canelones voted in favor of a trust for the Frente Amplio administration, destined for works. The fact generated discomfort among the whites and López decided to resign from his party.
The president of the Board of Directors of the National Party, Pablo Iturralde, stated that “at the time the mayor had submitted his resignation and acted accordingly, that is, his dismissal was agreed upon.”
“Then he has changed his mind and withdrew his resignation. We had a long dialogue, but the resignation was withdrawn on his part, we have no proposal from the mayors’ bench or from the Canelones Department. Therefore, we will be waiting for what proposals are made by the departmental authorities. The resignation was withdrawn and the removal will not be done,” he said.
Iturralde pointed out that the consequences have to be channeled through departmental organizations that can raise the issue, which would be channeled to the Political Affairs or Municipal Affairs Commission and if there is any specific complaint to the Ethics Commission.
“We have nothing to say on that subject, the ball remains on the Canelones court,” Iturralde sentenced.
