Santo Domingo. – The president Luis Abinader formalized the creation of the Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Foodafter the merger of the State Economic Dining Rooms and the Presidential Social Assistance Planthrough the Decree No. 597-25.
The new entity will function as a decentralized body of the Ministry of the Presidencycoordinated by Social Policy Cabinetin line with the provisions of Decree 219-25 of April 23.
The decree also designates Edgar Augusto Feliz Méndez as director of the directorate, in charge of supervising the operational units of the merged programs, ensuring the continuity and efficiency of services that benefit the most vulnerable sectors of the country.

Furthermore, the regulations repeal previous provisions, including article 28 of Decree 339-20, and establish that the management will act provisionally until its definitive incorporation into the Integrated State Financial Administration System (SIAFE).
With this measure, the Government seeks optimize resources and improve the management of social programsguaranteeing more coordinated and effective food and community assistance for the population that needs it most.
