With an investment of more than 60 million pesos, Dominican Edesur installed and put into operation a new power transformer in Pedernales, with the objective of consolidating the reliability and stability of the service in the area.
More than 5,500 users will be impacted by the adjustments, which are expected to reduction of technical losses by 15%, the company explained through a press release.
Installation of new equipment increases the operating capacity of the substationby replacing a previous 10.5 megavolt-ampere (MVA) transformer, which operated with voltage levels of 138/2.4 kilovolts, with one of 30 MVA and 138/12.8 kilovolts.

In August of last year, the new 138 kV Pedernales substation was put into operation, a work that allowed that province to be incorporated for the first time into the National Interconnected Electrical System (SENI) and provided significant improvements in the stability and quality of the supply.
For that occasion, Edesur incorporated a temporary power transformer and built a three-kilometer section of the network, at a cost of more than 170 million pesos.

With the increase in the installed capacity in this infrastructure, we contribute to a greater resilience of the system and will allow us to more efficiently meet the growing energy demand of the area, which has a high tourism potential.
This and other actions, which are part of the objectives of the National Development Strategy to 2030 and in the Expansion Plan of the National Interconnected Electrical System (SENI), demonstrate the commitment of Edesur with guaranteeing a efficient electrical serviceresilient and quality throughout its concession area.
