The Southern Electricity Distribution Company (Dominican Edesur) started this Wednesday a intensive plan network expansion and optimization electrical infrastructure in various areas of its concession area, with an investment of more than 155 million pesos.
The initiative seeks to guarantee the continuity, stability and sustainability of the service during the period of greatest energy demand.
As reported by the entity through a press release, the project includes interventions in 10 electrical substations and the construction of new lines of distribution, which will increase operational clearance by more than 30% in areas of high population density.
In addition, a reduction in technical losses is projected between 10% and 17% in the intervened circuits.
He plan includes actions to strengthen the operational stability of the Paradise substationsUASD 138 kV, The MeadowsMatadero, Embajador, Herrera Operations Center, Palamara, Bayona, Herrera 138 kV and Kilometer 10½. It also covers corrective work in distribution networks to minimize risks of prolonged interruptions due to overload during the next summer.
Edesur estimates that these interventions will directly impact 400,000 customers of some 70 sectors of the National District and the province of Santo Domingo.
The works
As part of the planthe company executes works such as the enabling of a second transformation field and new medium voltage outlets in the Paradise substation; the creation of a new outlet at the UASD 138 kV; the expansion of operational capacity in Matadero; and the installation of a 10-14 MVA transformer in the Herrera Operations Center.
It is also making progress in enabling the Alfa substationof 40MVAto offload the demand from other substations by transferring 25.9 MVA.
The project includes load redistributions in The Meadows and Palamara, as well as a interruption protocol partial and focused measures necessary to guarantee the safety of technical personnel during the works.
