Edelap fined $64 million for lack of information on user complaints

The Energy Control Agency of the province of Buenos Aires (Oceba) sanctioned the electricity distributor Edelap SA fined more than $64 million for breach the duty to report the status and evolution of claims presented by its users due to shortcomings in the provision of the service.

The Buenos Aires government informed that Oceba verified non-compliance on the part of the firm in the established procedure once the claim was initiated by the user and from there it elaborated the sanctions provided for in the concession contract which, in this case, reach 64,630,503 pesos.

It was detailed that the procedure indicates that once a claim has been initiated by a user, Oceba requests information on its status and resolution and the provider has the obligation to inform, respond and process.

This information forms the main tool of the provincial control body to exercise the primary function of monitoring the service.

The statement states that it was found that, at present, the majority of registered user complaints are due to service deficiencies and fees.

In addition, through resolution No. 60 of 2022, Oceba resolved to instruct a summary to Edelap SA for failure to comply with the obligation to install a Telephone Attention Center in its concession area.

These actions, as indicated, are part of the powers that the control body has to fight for a more efficient and quality electrical service in the province of Buenos Aires.
