Edeeste solves electrical contingencies in the last two months

Edeeste soluciona contingencias eléctricas en los último dos meses

During the months of November and December of this year, the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) has carried out works of great importance, such as the placement of the transformer of the César Nicolás Penson Electrical Substation at its base, the repowering of the Villa Mella Substation and the positioning of the 40 Megavolt-ampere (MVA) transformer in Boca Chica, to remove the unit mobile phone and increase the operational safety of the electrical system.

This was stated by the general manager of Edeeste, engineer Andrés Portes.

“We are walking with firm steps towards service excellence and specific actions like these are evidence of this,” declared the official.

Portes recalled the work, last November, for the placement of the new T02 transformer at the César Nicolás Penson Substation, which was damaged in October of this year, in the Gascue sector of the capital.

“With this work we managed to move forward to return this important energy terminal to its original condition and ensure its operational reliability,” he said.

Portes added that, once the assembly of the aforementioned energy component is completed in such an important electrical terminal in the heart of the city of Santo Domingo, the rigorous electromechanical tests and its subsequent commissioning continue rapidly.

Regarding the recent replacement of the 40 MVA transformer at the Villa Mella Substation, which had been overloaded, with another 50 MVA, the general manager of Edeeste reiterated that the result will be reflected in a notable improvement in the service to the clients of this Santo Domingo Norte area and, above all, in the release of said substation from working at high risk.

He specified that this 40 MVA transformer was enabled to operate at the Boca Chica 138KV Substation, where a similar equipment failure occurred last September.

Portes added that this last week the replacement of transformer No.1 of the aforementioned energy redistribution terminal was completed.

“In this way, the Boca Chica Substation returns to its originality, restoring reliability and operational security to the system in its area of incidence,” he highlighted.

He recalled that on September 27 of this year, when the automatic output of transformer T01 from the aforementioned terminal occurred and it was determined that it required major repair, the Mobile Substation was added from Guerra to the aforementioned municipality. This had remained in operation until this last job to replace the affected component.

With this action, Edeeste sought to safeguard the electrical service to customers in Andrés, Boca Chica and their surrounding areas.

“We thank our customers for the behavior exhibited during each of these jobs. Rest assured that we do everything humanly possible to respond accordingly every time an event like the ones we have cited occurs, “he said.

“Our commitment is to provide an increasingly better service and we are committed to that, to achieve what we still lack in that direction,” he pointed out.

The engineer Andrés Portes finally indicated that the work plan of the company he directs also includes the repowering of the Kilometer 24 Substation on the Mella highway, an action that will be carried out during the first week of January 2023.
