Of 213 circuits that the Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) has to supply energy to that area of the country, 61% are affected by the passage of Hurricane Fiona through Dominican territory, the entity reported today.
The electricity company is conducting a preliminary assessment of the early effects of the hurricane in the eastern part of the country, in order to proceed with the reconnection of service in the affected areas as soon as circumstances allow.
“Right now the hurricane is still impacting the eastern cities and we are waiting for the weather to allow our brigades to penetrate to restore service as soon as possible,” said the general manager of EdeeastAndres Portes.
He assured that from the Control Center of the Network of Edeeast They have been working “hard” since last night, attentive to the results of Fiona’s passage through the different cities of the east, specifically La Romana, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Higüey, Bávaro, Sabana de la Mar, Miches and Yuma.
In a press release, Portes explained that all the other electricity distribution companies (EDE) are in full collaboration with Edeeast to lend their equipment and materials and to be able to access the affected areas to respond as soon as possible.
The official added that this Monday they carry out a tour and a photographic evaluation of the situation left by the meteor, describing the damage in order to immediately face the situation of the cities affected by the hurricane fiona.
“We urge citizens to remain attentive to the bulletins issued by the Emergency Operations Center (COE), to protect themselves from the cables and transformers that we have on the surface, not to touch them,” he declared.
“As soon as the conditions exist, we are going to restore the service in the shortest possible time in the points affected by the passage of this phenomenon”, finally reiterated the manager of Edeeast.
