EDEEste inaugurates Romana Pueblo substation with new power transformer

EDEEste deja inaugurada subestación Romana Pueblo con nuevo transformador de potencia

The Roman.– The Eastern Electricity Distribution Company (Edeeste) inaugurated the Romana Pueblo substation on Thursday, putting into operation a new 28MVA power transformer.

With this upgrade, the distributor guarantees a significant improvement in the electric service, for the benefit of more than 39 thousand families.

On June 28, during a meeting with the community members, the general manager of EDEEste, engineer Manuel Mejía Naut, promised to deliver a new 69/12.5 kV and 28 MVA transformer in operation, with the aim of eliminating interruptions in the electrical service caused by overloads.

“Today we are fulfilling our promise, today we mark the beginning of the energy transformation for La Romana,” said Mejía Naut at the inauguration ceremony.

The official indicated that the acquisition of this power equipment and its installation required an investment of more than 54 million pesos.

“This multimillion-dollar investment will impact more than 135,000 users of the electric service, improving their quality of life,” added Naut.

He stressed that these advances have been possible thanks to the support of President Luis Abinader and the Unified Council of Distribution Companies (CUED).

For her part, the provincial governor, Mrs. Ivelise Mercedes, acknowledged the uninterrupted work of EDEEste technicians, in delivering this project to the community in less than 20 days.

He also used the opportunity to urge the community to honour their commitment to pay for electricity and not allow criminals to attack the system by making illegal connections.

Meanwhile, the president of the ETED Board of Directors, Rafael Santana Guilamo, thanked the commitment of the general manager of the electric company, in which he has demonstrated works in favor of the people of Roma.

More projects were announced this year for La Romana, which is expected to lead to firm steps towards the modernization and continuous improvement of the electrical infrastructure and a quality service for the province.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Mr. Eduardo Kery, Mayor of La Romana, Mr. Tury Reyes, Director of the La Caleta District, among other EDEEste executives and officials of said town.
