EDE received a lower amount of transfers in January

The electricity distribution companies (EDE) They received RD$1,479.0 million less in transfers from the Government last January compared to the same month in 2025.

The Government transferred RD$5,258.9 million to two EDE last January, according to the budget execution report corresponding to that month, prepared by the General Budget Directorate.

Of that amount, the Eastern Electricity Company (Edeeste) received RD$3,091 million and the Southern Electricity Company (Edesur) RD$2,167.3 million. The Northern Electricity Company (Edenorte) did not receive current transfers from the Government.

Edeeste and Edesur They are the distributors that register the highest levels of energy losses.

In January 2025, Government transfers to the three EDEs amounted to RD$6,724.9 million. Edeeste received RD$2,871.9 million, Edesur RD$2,230.3 million and Edenorte RD$1,632. 7 million.

The Government also transferred in January of this year RD$7,203.4 million to the Central Directorate of the National Health Service, RD$6,400 million to the Central Bank and RD$1,987.5 million to the Social Security Treasury. (In January 2025, the Central Bank received RD$5.8 billion). Current transfers in January were allocated in greater proportion to the public sector, which received RD$30,207.7 million (83.7%)followed by the private sector with RD$5,397.1 million.
