The British Ed Sheeran He was sued for alleged plagiarism in his song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ more than 5 years ago and the trial was delayed, among other reasons, due to the pandemic. the trial will be held in Manhattan, presided over by Judge Louis L.

The song to which they refer is one that the composers co-wrote Ed Townsend and Marvin Gaye call ‘Let’s Get On It‘ (1973), then, they assure that the chords are similar to the successful song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ (2014) written by Ed Sheeran together with the Swedish Max Martin.

The complaint alleges “Use of melodic, harmonic, instrumental and dynamic elements from Gaye’s song” And should the verdict be in favor of Gaye’s family, Sheeran will have to pay a fine amounting to more than 100 million dollars.

“I feel like accusations like this are all too common now and it has become a culture where you make a lawsuit with the idea of
that a legal settlement will be cheaper than taking it to court, even if there is no basis to sue,” Sheeran said via Twitter.

Ed Sheeran already been accused of plagiarism for another of his songs called ‘Shape Of You’.
