The foundation signed an agreement with the NASA Space Center In Houston, United States “To positively impact the lives of girls who live in situations of vulnerability in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Costa Rica”, says Nadia Sánchez, spokesperson for the Foundation.
Antecedent
Sánchez comments that in 2021, the program ‘She is an Astronaut’ made an impact on the lives of 31 Colombian girlsperforming a dive for five days in the facilities of NASA Space Center, In Houston.
Girls from Ecuador
Now, the program arrives in Ecuador to support the development of the girls. On February 24 the call will be opened in our country and will have two selection phases:
- In the first, you must fill out a registration form which will be worth 40% of the total grade
- And the second corresponds to the evaluation of the academic performance, the presentation of the commitment letter and the personal interviews; this phase will have a mark of 60%.
Requirements
In order to participate in this program, girls shall be between 9 and 15 years old, not be relatives in the first degree of consanguinity of any public official; be part of a qualified group in a situation of vulnerability; study in a public institution demonstrate excellent academic performance; have time, have not participated in the program before and have a responsible tutor.
The chosen age, says Sánchez, has to do with the fact that between the ages of 9 and 14 a person’s vocation is defined.
Activities
Sanchez explains that the program is educational and that will form the girls on leadership dynamicsmotivational, teamworkproblem solving and communication management related to real situations that occur in space.
For five days, the girls will visit the facilities of the NASA Space Centerwhere you can meet female astronauts and engineers aerospace experts. This will allow them to expand their horizons and encourage them to fulfill their dreams.
Schedule
- The call will be open until March 24, 2022.
- Those selected will begin their educational process on April 20.
- They will start, for 6 months, with virtual classes prior to immersion, having meet & talk and webinars with astronautsCEO of the Space Center and high-impact speakers
- It will end with a visit to the NASA Space Center for 5 days (the third week of August 2022) where they will receive a curriculum and study plan.
- They will carry out training activities, interact with astronauts and will graduate from one of the world’s largest STEAM career learning centers on “NASA Space Center” In Houston. (AVV)
