The presidents of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen; of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chavez; and of Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader; as founding countries of the Alliance for Development in Democracy (ADD), welcomed Guillermo Lasso, president of Ecuadorwhich adheres to this regional group, within the framework of the IX Summit of the Americaswhich takes place in Los Angeles, United States.
According to a statement from the Dominican Foreign Ministry, Ecuador is the fourth country to join this initiative of political dialogue, cooperation Y trade promotion for sustainable development, based on the commitment to democratic institutions, respect for human rights and the Rule of law.
In its constitutive declaration, the ADD undertook to manage concrete actions within the framework of five axes: Regional leadership, Migration and Refuge; Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change; Security, Justice and Fight Against Corruption; and Economic Growth and Socio-Labor Opportunities.
The Alliance was formed in September 2021, within the framework of the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations and since then has received the support of the governments of the United States, Canada, and Spain, among others.
It has held several meetings in each of the member countries.
