Ecuador marginalized Byron Castillo from his call to the Qatar-2022 World Cup due to the risk of receiving “unfair sanctions,” the local Federation said on Tuesday, from which the TAS withdrew three points in the next South American qualifier.
“Faced with the risk of suffering unfair sanctions againthe Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) is seen in the obligation not to include the player Byron Castillo Segura in the final list that has been presented to FIFA,” the organization explained in a statement.
In addition, he called “arbitrary” Y “without legal basis” the failure of Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS), which also imposed a financial fine on the FEF.
The Federation argued that the case was dealt with by Ecuadorian judges, “who on four occasions they agreed with the playerbeing they the only competent authorities in our country to settle this controversy”.

The federations of Chili Y Peru denounced first before FIFA and then before the CAS Castillo, whom they say is Colombian.
The FIFA failed in two instances in favor of Ecuadorbut TAS considered that the FEF used “a document that contained false information” (Castillo passport).
However, the Court added that the player “was eligible to participate in the preliminary qualifying phase” of Qatar-2022, since it recognizes that the nationality of a player “is determined by national legislation”.

The FEF estimated that the resolution of the TAS “illegitimately sows a doubt regarding the content” of Castillo’s passport, which “could jeopardize not only the progress of the team in this World Cup, but even jeopardize their participation in the next edition.”
The “Tricolor”, directed by the Argentine Gustavo Alfaro, traveled this Tuesday to its fourth World Cup event in Qatar to begin its concentration for the opening party on November 20, in which he will face the host of the World Cup.
Castillo, who played eight qualifying games and several friendlies, uploaded a photo of the Ecuadorian team to his Instagram stories on Tuesday.

At the 2022 World Cup, Ecuador integrates the Group A. After facing Taste, the “Tri” will measure forces with Netherlands on November 25 and with Senegal the 29th.
Alfaro, who has not ruled on the Castillo case, warned that his team “is not bankrupt by anyone.”
“The soul of this group is what keeps this group on its feet (…) The more uphill it is, the more this group puts their chests out,” said the strategist after the last friendly that the “Tricolor” played with Iraq (0 -0) last weekend.
The FEF assured that it will be in charge of “exhaust all resources” legal in order to “repair this unfair and painful situation”.
